Prescription Drug Disposal

Montgomery County ESD 4/ Needham Fire Rescue offers a free, year-round medication disposal program to help prevent medication misuse and protect the environment. Through this mail-back envelope system, residents can safely dispose of unused or expired prescriptions—no postage, return address, or cost required.

Instead of throwing medications in the trash or flushing them down the drain, residents are encouraged to use these envelopes as a safer, more responsible option. This program is especially helpful for elderly or homebound residents, as a family member, friend, or neighbor can pick up an extra envelope on their behalf.

How It Works

  • Contact District Chief Nichols at 936-514-2453 or anichols@mcesd4.com
  • Pick up a secure envelope at a participating location
  • Place unused or expired prescription medications inside the envelope
  • Drop the envelope in any United States Postal Service (USPS) mailbox — no postage, no return address, and no cost to you
